Desmond Duffy MSc. FCA. CTA
Des graduated with First Class Honours in Mathematics from Queens University in 1981 and started a career in accountancy with a large international accountancy practice. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1985 and as a chartered tax adviser in 1987.
Prior to setting up Duffy & Co (A & T) Ltd, Des worked in a large multinational accountancy practice, specialising in taxation, and gained a broad range of experience in advising local clients at all levels from sole traders to large groups of companies. Des advises a broad range of clients on accountancy and taxation matters.
Des is a past chairman of the Northern Ireland branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and lectures regularly on accountancy and tax issues.

Denise Duffy FCA BSc Hons
Denise is a founding member and director of Duffy & Co (A&T) Ltd. Denise graduated from Queens University Belfast in Economics and Accounting, before achieving a Diploma in Accounting also from Queens University. She trained with Pricewaterhouse and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1987.
Denise has an extensive range of experience from private practice, working closely with small business clients, auditing PLCs and family owned companies, computer audit and company secretarial work. She spent several years in industry in a large PLC and had total responsibility for the accounting and human resources functions in Belfast and Dublin.
Denise is engaged in all aspects of general practice including accountancy, audit and consultancy and dealing with financial institutions. In recent times she has considerable experience in dealing with fraud cases and for implementing safeguards for the prevention and detection of fraud.

Pauline Carson
Pauline joined Duffy & Co (A & T) Ltd in 2005. Prior to joining the firm she worked in industry for over 20 years and had full responsibility for running a busy accounts department.
She works closely with a variety of clients and has significant experience in the production of statutory and management accounts, provision of payroll services, vat compliance and advising on the set up and operation of sage products.
Pauline has full responsibility for the payroll services provided by the firm and has complete knowledge of all aspects of payroll and payroll administration including sick pay, maternity pay etc.

Ciara McLaughlin CTA
Ciara joined Duffy & Co (A & T) Ltd in 2003 as an accounting technician having previously worked for several years in a retail environment. She has specialised in all aspects of taxation since joining the firm.
Ciara qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in 2008 and is a member of the prestigious Chartered Institute of Taxation in London.
Ciara is responsible for providing accounting and taxation services to an extensive and varied portfolio of clients and is particularly interested in assisting clients minimise their exposure to taxation.

Roisin McAvoy FCA
Roisin joined Duffy & Co (A & T) Ltd as a chartered accountant in 1998 and became a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland in 2008.
Roisin is engaged in all aspects of general practice including accountancy, audit and consultancy. She manages the audit function for the firm and has particular responsibility for Credit Unions and Solicitors practices.

Bernadette Sweeney QUB Bsc Finance
Bernadette joined Duffy & Co (A & T) Ltd as a trainee chartered accountant in 2008. Prior to joining the firm she was a student at Queens University Belfast and she graduated with an honours degree in finance.
